Fenn Lane Composting Site Appeal Dismissed
Conservative County Councillor for Market Bosworth Ivan Ould has welcomed the decision by the Planning Inspectorate to dismiss the latest appeal for a Windrow waste composting site located off Fenn Lane, Fenny Drayton.
Planners at the Development Control and Regulatory Board of Leicestershire County Council have consistently refused plans submitted by Mr Zeeshan Aslam for a composting facility that would have seen thousands of tonnes of waste wood and green waste left to rot in open countryside.
Ivan Ould said: “I am absolutely delighted that the planning inspector, Elizabeth Hill, listened to the viewpoints of local residents and took into consideration the valid reasons for refusal by the Leicestershire County Council planning board. We have worked very hard as a community to oppose developments of this type and I would like to personally thank residents and members of Witherley Parish Council for their sterling efforts in collectively representing people’s views to planning authorities.”
Bosworth MP David Tredinnick has also welcomed the decision to throw out the appeal. He said:” Decisions like this restore my faith in the planning process and shows what can be achieved if communities come together and work for the common good. Composting has its place in reducing waste sent to landfill- but the applications have to be in the right place. Fenny Drayton clearly is not the right place and the Planning Inspectorate agreed with local people in turning down this appeal. Let us draw a line under this now and move on.”
